AT&T fiber optic cable to the driveway 2025-02-23

For a dozen years, Lowndes County, Georgia, has had it as “one of our top priorities” to get broadband Internet services to more of its people.

Could it finally be happening?

A month ago I noticed these odd markings on the road out front:

Down the road, this was a clue:

I asked these guys, and they said it was AT&T putting in fiber optic broadband cable.

They were still polishing their work three weeks later.

This is what I think they called a flower pot. It’s where we can tap in to the cable.

Sure, and it’s 2500 feet up our driveway to our farm workshop. When we got AT&T DSL put in many years ago, we had to pay them to run it up there. If we must, we can do that again.

Checking at

So far all I get is “may be available” and “Call us at 866.232.3667”

The URL for that response page is a clue:
https://www.att.com/buy/internet/not-available

However, it does have a form to “Sign up to be notified of any home internet products, including AT&T Fiber®, available at your address.”

I suppose I could use more junk mail, so I signed up.

Finding it a bit ironic that GQ and JSQ, two of the most OG-Internet denizens I know of, are *finally* (maybe) able to go light-speed!
